    Australian Chef of the Year Challenge

    The ultimate culinary competition for professional chefs.

    (This competition is presented with compliment by, to TechnicalChefs Members , their staff or a recommendation by a TechnicalChef).


    Who may enter this competition:

    • Entry to this competition is free to registered AITC members, their staff or an applicant approved by a TechnicalChef.
    • Private contenders are required to donate a fee for service to Contact George Hill for details
    • AITC members please request a password from AITC Admin
    • If this is for one of your staff, please advise name of  your approved competitor.

    AITC "Australian Chef of the Year Challenge" is beyond other culinary competitions and titles such as Master Chef, Chef of the year, this competition will challenge even the best of the best .

    • The three highest scores of those who have dared to challenge themselves are shown at the top left.
    • The highest score shows the reigning AITC Australian Chef of the Year and is equivalent to a gold standard.
    • The second highest score identify competitors who are outstanding and equivalent to silver standard.
    • The third highest score confirms an impressive result and equivalent to a bronze standard.
    • Any score above 50% is excellent and considered at bronze standard.
    • Scores below the top three are not publicly shown.
    • Scores below 50% are awarded participation.
    • By entering you automatically challenge the top three for a place.

    A challenge consists of 150 multiple choice questions in 45 minutes. The challenge includes technical and administrative culinary knowledge questions about:

    The Challenge: You must register as a competitor to view the challenge - Register here to see examinations

    • Competitors will be permitted three attempts a year.
    • The year commences on 1 January.
    • Questions are timed and randomized.
    • There are built-in mechanisms that indicate online cheating.
    • Anyone found to have cheated will be disqualified.
    • If already registered on you STILL NEED to register with auschef again.
    • You may register at anytime, and only need to do so once.
    • You must register your details accurately.
    • When you are completely ready and will not be disturbed , logon and select the  challenge below.
    • Read the rules carefully and proceed to "Attempt quiz now"
    • Once you have clicked the “Attempt quiz now”, (You will be requested to input password). 
    • Input the password and wait 20 seconds for the challenge to load.
    • The timer will appear on your screen and will immediately start to countdown.
    • The system will record your answers given in a strict time limit.
    • Even if you do not complete all questions, submit your completed answers.
    • At the end of the assessment questions; to complete your assessment you must SUBMIT ALL AND FINISH BUTTON (At the very bottom  of the examination).

    Competitors note: there are only have three attempts allowed in a calender year and each year a new challenge must be attempted.

    • Be very aware that every challenge is marginally different but at the same level.
    • You may be tempted to try another challenge to try to increase your score, however this may result in being moved down and actually losing your place.
    • We recommend only bronze, or scores very close to bronze standard should consider a re –challenge . Or if you are moved below gold, silver or bronze standard than attempt to regain one of the top three places
